The Company

Giga-tronics is a fast-growing Company that designs, manufactures and markets solutions for evaluating military RADAR and Electronic Warfare systems in both laboratory and operational environments.  The Company’s product lines include its Advanced Signal Generation and Analysis Platform for generating or recording advanced RF emitters and its Microsource flight worthy Synthesized Tunable Band Reject Filters for interference mitigation on board fighter jets.

Job Description

We are looking for an individual, working in the Company’s Dublin, California facility, to translate the ideas and concepts from our Advanced Development Group located in Nashua, New Hampshire into productized solutions that meet the majority of our customer’s needs, but that can be easily customized to address their individual requirements.

Functionally, the Vice President of Engineering is responsible for all product development activities and optimizes the use of all engineering resources, including management of engineering personnel, budgets, capital equipment and development schedules.  As appropriate, the Vice President of Engineering contributes directly to system concepts, architecture and design by working closely with customers, the Company’s CTO and our Vice President of Business Development.

The Vice President of Engineering reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Managerial

  • Develops engineering and technology strategies consistent with corporate strategy.
  • Establishes organization and staffing to execute strategies.
  • Establishes operating objectives, programs and budgets to execute strategies.
  • Guides direct reports to reach objectives, carry out programs and meet budgets.
  • Maintains effective processes to meet schedules and quality objectives.

 

Individual Contributor

  • Provides inputs to and participates in corporate strategic planning activities.
  • Provides motivational leadership for the engineering organization.
  • Communicates status of engineering programs and issues.
  • Advises and counsels direct reports and COO.
  • Establishes policies, procedures and practices for engineering organization.
  • Represents engineering in customer contacts as requested by business development.
  • Travel as necessary to achieve program goals, customer satisfaction and when appropriate, promote other activities of Giga-tronics when visiting customers.

 

Relationships

  • Establish excellent working relationship between engineering and manufacturing organizations.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with other members of the senior management team.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate relationships with customers, vendors and subcontractors.
  • Participates in trade organizations and professional organizations related to engineering activities
  • Establish relationships with prime contractors and with Military and Aerospace customers.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience managing engineering organizations.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Experience with RF and Microwave component design, test equipment and measurements desired.
  • Knowledge of RADAR principles and military Countermeasure techniques desired.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers.
  • Experience with the test and evaluation of complex military electronic systems desired.
  • Good understanding of a typical aerospace customer’s technical, schedule and programmatic requirements.

 

SALARY GRADE:  EX 165 – Salary, Exempt          Reports to:  Chief Operating Officer
